Throughout history, it seems like society has always placed so much pressure on young girls and women to look a certain way: most of the time being completely unachievable. Thanks to the Hollywood red carpet, magazines, pop stars, and beauty pageants, it seems like everywhere a woman looks, she is reminded of that ideal body. With the constant reminder of the way that she does not look, and the pressure that she may feel from the people in her life, it does not take her long until she is unhappy and begins to criticize herself. More often than not, these young girls will end up being diagnosed with an eating disorder.

Eating disorders are now being looked at like an illness. People are starting to understand that for someone with an eating disorder it is hard to get out of that way of thinking. For instance, you cannot just tell an anorexic person to pick up a burger and eat it. Her body and mind will not let it happen, and if she is successful, she probably will not be able to keep it down.
That is why rehab centers have come up with eating disorder programs to help these people learn how to rethink their thinking when it comes to food and body image. Unfortunately, eating disorders have become a growing epidemic and facilities cannot keep up with the growing number of people who are living with a disorder. As a result, some people will not be able to receive the help that they need in time.
There are two different types of treatments available. Usually the first choice that people tend to choose is an outpatient eating disorder program where they can continue to go about their normal routine, but more times than not, they are unsuccessful. However, inpatient eating disorders treatment programs have a much higher success rate because you are always able to get help anytime that you need it. Moreover, you will be in a variety of different counseling programs to help you work through this difficult time, as well as getting plenty of support and nurturing along the way.
Another benefit of attending an inpatient eating disorder program is that you are there among other women who are battling the same problems, and can relate to the inner turmoil you must deal with. This is unlike attempting to go through recovery as an outpatient, where friends and family constantly pressure you to eat in a loving, but unhelpful way. If you or somebody you know is suffering from an eating disorder, you need to look into an inpatient rehab center right away.
